FGV investigations in British Columbia were restricted to two general areas in southern British Columbia, the Arrowstone Hills locale and the Watts Point vicinity. Subsequent provenance studies of artifacts from the two source areas indicate that toolstone from both were utilized as significant prehistoric resources. Trace element investigations also indicate that Watts Point source material is found in glacial deposits to the south in the San Juan Islands and Olympic Peninsula of Washington. Geochemical studies of potential toolstone from the Gulf Islands immediately east of Vancouver Island, however, failed to turn up any Watts Point source material. |
